Meat Processing Plant
Client Challenge
The client needed to set up a new meat processing plant from scratch within a tight budget and deadline. This included a wide range of services including full mechanical, electrical and pipework installation of processing equipment.
JBD Tritec’s Solution
JBDTritec were able to deliver the entire contract in house reducing the risk in delivering the project. Over a six month period JBD Tritec were fully involved including the provision of a site foreman, along with 20 skilled operatives. Tasks included:
- Installing the full process from the stunning box to butchery area, including lifting platforms, elevators, belt conveyors and all the sterilising and hygiene equipment.
- co-ordinating a complex installation drawing on each of JBD Tritec’s specialist divisions.
- Our mechanical division installed over 95 tonnes of process structural steelwork which had been designed to support the overhead rail system, the conveyors and process equipment. We used laser gauges to accurately ensure levels were within the tolerance limits required.
- Our fabrication department provided the additional service for all the stainless steel modifications required and the stainless fabrications, e.g. troughs, chutes etc. which had to be site measured.
- Our electrical department worked alongside the mechanical department and installed the control panels and the necessary cabling to enable the operation and control of all the process equipment.
- We provided full mechanical and electrical installation of the waste suction system. This involved our pipework division installing a metric stainless steel vacuum pipework system to site drawings. The electrical department installed the controls for the system and also the trace heating for the pipework.
Benefits and Results
The benefit of a local turnkey service ensured that the installation, mechanical engineering, fabrication and electrical engineering teams could worked together effectively. As a result the project was delivered to specification and within a competitive timescale.
